If you’re like me, the end of the day is when we typically get to think about our upcoming days, weeks, or months. It’s when my brain starts to list out the things that need to get done, or the activities I’d like to do if I could.
Household projects often fall on that list.
The thing to watch in our house right now is every house flipper show you can think of. My MIL and wife love them. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t get sucked in a time or two as well. However, I feel like these shows do a poor job of actually showing the viewer what goes into a home remodeling project.
These guys cram an entire house flip into 45 minutes flat, and make you think it’s just that easy! Re-tile a bathroom, remodel a kitchen, and build a 5 start resort style oasis…Boom…Presto… “Move that Bus!”
My job as a general contractor is to give you, the homeowner, the smoothest turnkey experience a construction project can have. But you have to promise to remember how many times Chip & Joanna Gaines call each other and say, “Something didn’t go to plan.” At the end of the day, it’s still a construction site. There will be unforeseen delays, work stops, and a forgotten tool the entirety of the project hinges on. That’s just the way it goes in construction sometimes. The project however, will be completed in the timeframe and price we agreed on.
That’s why you hire a general contractor. There are at least two to three days that go into sourcing material depending on the job. Add another day or two for putting a labor charge together. Then, add permitting or any type of architectural, or engineering work. Most projects take about a week at minimum to quote, and we haven’t even begun the work yet. When the job starts, there’s material scheduling, labor scheduling, trades scheduling, weather delays and re-scheduling, and the list goes on. Now, imagine doing all that on your own, and still having to do everything in your day to day.
My job is to work directly with you the homeowner. To be your eyes and ears on the job because I know what you want. To be the one you go to with questions and concerns. I’m your onsite construction concierge. So that you always know who to speak with. You are my top priority, because if your project isn’t done correctly, I’m the one you’re mad at. With a General Contractor you’re getting the most stress-free, fair priced, homeowner experience a construction project can have.
Let me deal with the construction, it’s not quite “as seen on TV” as it looks.
