Not every construction company is lucky enough to be able to have their own in house carpenter. Here at DC & H Construction we are blessed to have Jamie apart of our team.
Jamie is talented in many areas of wood working. Some of his areas of expertise are: custom entertainment centers, custom baby gates, custom dog crates, barn doors and cabinetry
One of our most popular built-in requests are Entertainment Centers. There are a few things to consider when having looking to have one built. First you want to think about your vision. What style are you wanting to achieve? What functionality would you like it to have? What purpose is it going to serve? Are you going to be using shelving for decorative fixtures or are you wanting to store books, movies or other items you may want behind a cabinet door? The TV size you have now-will this be the same TV for the built-in? Are you going to want to expand for a larger tv in the future? to consider when having looking to have one built.

Remember when you are putting in a builtin unit you are building and setting a permanent structure. Depending on the wall it is installed on, you may need power outlets moved or slightly adjusted. This typically is an extra cost outside of the cost of the built-in.
If you are wanting to spruce up the home on small, practical ways consider custom shelving. There are various options to consider.
Open shelving: Boxed in style shelving without a cabinet door.
Floating shelves: Free hanging shelves made our of thicker pieces of wood. About 2 ½” thick.
Industrial shelving: Wood plank shelving that sits on plumbing pipes. You can also have hooks that jet out from underneath the shelf.
Another way to transform the feel of a room, game room or man cave would be to install cedar or faux cedar beams across the ceiling or pitch of a vaulted ceiling. This gives a pop of color and texture as well as warming up the room. If rustic warms your soul then this would be a wonderful way to add transformation tp your home.
If you have a wood working project in mind for the New Year give me a call. Jamie and I would love to help bring your vision to reality.
